About this course

Medicine is a life-long career option that helps to provide a great social service in caring for the ill and ailing, as well as to prevent many illnesses thereby helping to create a healthier society.

As a doctor, one already holds a special status in society while making a great difference to the lives of many people. Ultimately, medicine is a life-changing career that will expose you to many different experiences that you will not find anywhere.

The UTAR MBBS programme follows a systemic and integrated approach that aims to equip graduates with not only the required clinical skills, but also effective communication skills to function as competent and caring doctors.

Academic foundation, analytical and critical thinking ability will be provided for engagement in life-long learning, research and continuing professional development. Ethical values, professionalism and moral responsibility to both patients and the community will be instilled in the UTAR graduates.

Students are introduced to the basic knowledge and techniques in the field of microbiology; how to control microbial growth, as well as to use them to produce useful products in the industries, to solve environment problems, and understand their importance in medicine, waste management and quality control.

Entry RequirementsApplicants must have one of the following Entry requirements:

  • STPM with Grades BBB / ABC / AAC in Biology, Chemistry and Physics / Mathematics

  • South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 80 and minimum score of 80% in Biology, Chemistry and Physics / Mathematics

  • Canadian Pre-University (CPU) with an average of 80% in Biology, Chemistry and Physics / Mathematics

OR
