About this course

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering programme is designed to prepare you for professional career and to further your study to Bachelor Degree in the related engineering field. We adopt comprehensive and innovative content and teaching techniques, which are designed towards expanding the frontiers of learning and inculcating a probing mind.

You will be challenged to develop into multi-skilled professionals possessing mental, intellectual and emotional fortitude to succeed in life. The curricula, further enhanced with project work, lab experiments and practical training, are designed with inputs from reputable sources.

The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering programme consists of well-established balance between theory, experiments and hands-on practical training during the two and half-years of study. The curriculum consists of a good mix of general subjects as well as core engineering subjects.

91 credit hours of subjects are being taught in seven semesters. This Diploma in Mechanical Engineering programme can be completed in 2 ½ years.

Entry RequirementsApplicants must have one of the following Entry requirements:

For Malaysian Students:

  • SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia)
    Pass SPM with minimum credits in 3 subjects inclusive of Mathematics and Credit in Physics / relevant science / technical / vocational subjects and Pass English in SPM Level.
  • O-Level
    Pass O-Level with minimum credits in 3 subjects inclusive of Mathematics and Credit in Physics / relevant science / technical / vocational subjects and Pass English.
  • IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education)
    Pass IGCSE with minimum credits in 3 subjects inclusive of Mathematics and Credit in Physics / relevant science / technical / vocational subjects and Pass English.
  • UEC (Unified Examination Certificate)
    Pass UEC with minimum Grade B in 3 subjects inclusive of Mathematics and any Science / Technical / Vocational and Pass English.
  • Sijil Vokasional & Teknikal / Kemahiran
    Pass Sijil Vokasional & Teknikal / Kemahiran with Level 3 KKM with minimum PNGK 2.00 and 1 year experience in related field or 1 semester of enhancement programme.
  • Engineering / Engineering Technology Certificate (Level 3, KKM)
    Pass Engineering/ Engineering Technology Certificate (Level 3, KKM) with minimum PNGK of 2.00. 
  • Others
    Other equivalent qualifications recognised by Government of Malaysia.

No additional English requirement for this programme.

For International Students:

International students are required to have English one of the proficiency score stated below to enrol in UNITEN. Diploma students who do not fulfill this English requirement are required to sit for the Intensive English Programme (IEP) and pass the requirement below before starting their Diploma programme.

International Student Only

International students are required to have one of the English proficiency score stated below to enrol in UNITEN. Foundation students who do not fulfill this English requirement are required to sit for the Test of English Proficiency (TEP) before they could enroll in the English Short Course (ESC).
