About this course
The Foundation in Arts (FIA) program is specially designed for SPM and O-Level school leavers or their equivalent, who would like to progress to university but do not have the relevant qualification to enter. It is an alternative to the other pre-university programs such as A-Level, STPM, or Matriculation.
The program will provide students with the theoretical and practical foundations for knowledge and skills acquisition in various disciplines of study in the Arts and prepares them for undergraduate studies at Institutions of Higher Learning in Malaysia. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to gain entry into undergraduate Arts-based programs.
The demand for this program is high as the duration of study is shorter, one year compared to 1.5 to 2 years for other pre-university programs, and as such, it provides a faster route to undergraduate programs. It has become popular among school leavers in recent years. Our FIA program will provide students with a broad exposure to the core subjects in Business, Data Science, Arts, and Humanities. Additional supporting subjects such as English and Information Technology are also provided to strengthen students’ capabilities further.
Our program ensures that student performance is monitored throughout the semester as they will be evaluated through quizzes or tests, assignments, presentations, group discussion or participation, and a midterm examination. At the end of the semester, students will be evaluated in a final exam to measure their course learning outcomes. These continuous assessment methods would allow academic staff to gauge students’ understanding and provide the necessary feedback for improvement.

Entry RequirementsApplicants must have one of the following Entry requirements:
Academic Qualification Requirement
- Passed SPM/SPMV with a minimun of 5 credits (C) or
- Passed O-Level with a minimum of 5 credits (C) or
- Passed UEC with at least 3 Bs or
- Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.
Local Students: a pass in English Language at the SPM / O-Level / UEC Level / Other equivalent qualifications.
International Student Only
A pass in English Language at equivalent academic qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government.
In the event that the English Language requirement is not met, as assessment of a student’s English Language proficiency will be conducted through an interview.
